Nevolat FAQs
How long does a pen last?
At the starting dose a single Nevolat pen will last you 17 days. All the pens contain exactly the same volume of liquid so as you start to increase the dosage each week a pen will last a shorter length of time. Once at the maximum dose of 3mg one pen will last approximately 6 days.
What is the dosage of Nevolat?
The starting dose of Nevolat is 0.6mg, taken once a day. The dose can be increased in 0.6mg increments once a week (0.6mg in week one, 1.2mg in week two, 1.8mg in week three, 2.4mg in week four and 3mg in week five) until you reach a maximum daily dose of 3mg.
Do I need to increase the dose every week?
No is the simple answer. If you find that you experience sufficient appetite suppression on a lower dose you can stick with this. Using lower doses will reduce the likelihood of side effects. You then have the option to increase the dose at a later date if you find that the appetite suppression is not as effective.
Will I experience side effects?
All medication will have the potential of side effects and Nevolat is no different. Nausea is the most common side effect experienced at the start of treatment. This will normally reduce in most cases as your body becomes used to the medication. You may experience an increase in side effects when you increase the dose, these should settle within a few days.
There are some self-help tips you can try if you do suffer from nausea:
- Eat bland, low-fat foods, like cracker toast and rice
- Eat foods that contain water, like soups and gelatine
- Don't lie down after you eat
- Go outside to get some fresh air
There is a full list of side effects listed in the patient information leaflet sent with the treatment and a copy of this leaflet can be found here.: https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/100 226/pil

How long can I use Nevolat?
There is no fixed time period for treatment with Nevolat and this will depend on our Doctor. They will decide if the medication is still the best option for you and is having the desired effect, however you should only continue over a period of 12 weeks if you demonstrate weight loss of 5% when used in conjunction with a calorie-controlled diet and regular exercise. Inject your dose under the skin (this is called a subcutaneous injection) in your stomach area (abdomen), upper leg (thigh), or upper arm. Do not inject into a vein or muscle. Nevolat® is self-injectable in the upper arm, abdomen, or thigh
