What is the difference between Combined HRT and Oestrogen Only HRT?

The type of hormone replacement therapy prescribed depends entirely on your medical history, specifically whether or not you have had a hysterectomy. If you still have your womb (uterus), you will be prescribed Combined HRT. This contains both oestrogen to relieve your menopause symptoms and a progestogen to protect the lining of your womb. If you have had a hysterectomy, you do not need this protection and will typically be prescribed Oestrogen only HRT.
